Twin Lakes
APPROVED: 11/8/17

Location: Aiken Rd
FF DRO: Yes
Proposal: Build 137 houses, drastically altering the current floodplain with storm water retention basins. Floodplain upstream and downstream of this development will also be impacted but retention only accounts for this development.

Primary Concerns
-
Retention basins fill up with storm water and there is no flood storage availability.
-
There are no flood storage basins as they are filled with storm water.
-
Houses have been raised 1' above the base flood elevation meaning land that was once floodplain is no longer available for flood storage.
-
Homeowners located in previous floodplain do not have flood insurance and will be flooded with any 125 year or higher flooding event (4" rainfall in 3 hrs, 6" in 12 hrs, or 7.5" in 24 hrs).
-
Floyds Fork, along with homeowners and businesses downstream, are negatively impacted with <100 year flooding events by the new altered flood plain.
- Putting in a mechanical sewage pump along the river is cause for great concerns as mechanical failures are guaranteed and sewage and diesel will go into the river.
